Question:
I have a 2005 ford escape that I want to pull a small utility trailer with. I watched several of your install videos and found that my vehicle has the factory tow package so I ordered item#40455. I installed it but get no lights at all. I checked and found that there is no power to the plug-in under the bumper.I tried to research this on some forums and it seems that if the tow package was not purchased when the vehicle was new that all the wiring is there from the factory but there are some relays that are dealer installed to make it functional. My problem is I cant get the same answer twice as to what I need or where it is. Are you familiar with this issue, and could you point me in the right direction.

Expert Reply:
The most economical and expedient way to handle this would be to return the harness you have, and install the T-1 connector, part number 118426. This connector simply plugs in behind the tail lights of your Ford Escape. You can certainly see the dealer for the relays if you wish, but they will probably be expensive.
