Product Comparison Between Softride Dura # SR26247 and Element # SR26248 Bike Racks

Question:

Ive read over the previous Q/A posts and I still have some questions: Do the Dura arms fold down like they do on the Element? Is the mechanism used to lower the Element rack a removable pin or a spring-loaded pin i.e., does the pin need to be removed and re-ed? Thanks! Is it possible to add a cable lock to the Element?

The arms of the Softride Dura, # SR26247 do not fold, but they are easily and quickly removable. Both the Element and the Dura use a spring loaded pull pin that remains in place. It does not need to be completely removed and reinserted. A cable lock that would retro-fit to the Element is not available, but we have several cable type bike locks available, like the Master Lock Python, part # 8428DPS that would work well with the Element.

There are two other important distinctions between the Dura and the Element. The Dura includes the lock that installs on the anti-rattle pin, and also includes the anti-sway cradles that will prevent the bikes from swaying back and forth and possibly hitting each other or the vehicle.
