As a female being clueless about towing...I would like to know if there is a difference between purchasing a mid-size SUV vehicle with a tow package and installing one after purchase. I need to be able to tow 5,000# horse trailer w/horse.

I guess the answer to your question will depend on what that particular manufacturer's 'tow package' includes. Do they mean that the vehicle would come with the needed 7 way connector and would be prewired for a brake controller? Or do they go a step further and include heavier suspension parts and a transmission cooler? Typically, if you are going to be towing frequently, the tow package is a very good idea.
