Question:
I was watching a video on install of this guard on a FJ.. It looks like you set the distance you want from the bumper and then tighten bolts. What stops this guard from going into bumper when pushing something with this bar or even a light impact? Looks like all bracing is on the bottom so will this unit pivot or swing on that bolt

According to the installation instructions on the Westin Ultimate Bull Bar with Skid Plate, part # 32-3600, you will remove three factory bumper mount bolts on each side of your 2012 Toyota 4Runner and line up the frame mounting brackets for the Westin Bull Bar with the holes and reinstall the three factory bumper mount bolts on each side to hold the mounting brackets to the vehicle.
The Bull Bar will mount to those mounting brackets using two bolts for each mounting bracket. Before you tighten the hardware you will want to level and adjust the bull bar to your vehicle. Then, tighten all of the hardware to the specified torque rating.
Since the bull bar is attached where the factory bumper is attached and all of the bolts are torqued correctly you should not have any problem of this Westin Bull bar moving on your vehicle. With the way it is installed it would not go into the vehicles bumper if used properly. I would not recommend to apply excessive weight to only the top of the bull bar, which could cause excessive strain on the mounting bolts.
