Question:
Is it possible to purchase the ball mount alone and if so can the mounting holes be changed to 1 1/4inch on center and possibly be bumped up to a class lV. I have a solid shank rated for 12,000 lbs but dont want to use the big weight distribution ball mount when towing my boat or utility trailer.

You will not be able to modify a ball mount and have it maintain is structural integrity and weight capacity rating. What you would need to do is either use the current set up, of go with a different adjustable ball mount that is rated as a Class IV, see link.
You could also get a regular ball mount that has the correct rise or drop you need. I have included a link to all of the fixed ball mounts we carry that are rated for 12,000 pounds and a link to an FAQ on measuring for rise or drop.
