Pro Series SC Weight Distribution for a 2007 Ford F-150

Question:

I am very interested in this product but i do have some concerns. My tow vechile is 07 F150 extend cab 5.4l 4x4 the trailer i have recently purchased is a 96 23 Terry travel trailer. I have looked around and can only find the dry weight of 3800lbs. It has 40 gallon water tank which is usually full. In the bed of the truck i usually carry maybe 100-150 extra pounds. Tralier usually stays empty except for the water tank. Will this hitch work? it seems to have a high rating please let me know thank you

I have reviewed the system you are interested in and calculated the items you normally tow. A 40 gallon water tank is around 334 lbs (8.35 lbs per gallon) and with 150 lbs in your truck bed and normally nothing else being carried, you have approximately 584 lbs to consider for your tongue weight. The Pro Series SC, item 49579, is rated for tongue weights 600 - 1,100 lbs and has a maximum towing capacity of 14,000 lbs. Without any additional weight, you are coming in right under the minimum for the application. At the minimum or maximum weight for a weight distribution system, you may not receive the full benefits of the application and may not even notice any changes. I would recommend product number 66154, the Reese SC Weight Distribution System. The tongue weight range on this system is 400 - 800 lbs, and it has GWT of 10,000 lbs. This application is very similar to the Pro Series SC, but utilizes tapered spring bars. This system falls within your current towing weight ranges, but still offers a bit of room for 200 lbs of additional TW. It is a better fit for your current towing and weight distribution needs; it will allow you to gain the maximum benefit from the system. If you are going to greatly expand upon the amount of weight you carry and increase your TW, then the Pro Series SC, product 49579 will work for you. I am attaching a FAQ sheet on weight distribution below for your reference.
