Question:
I have installed a 90185 in my 01 Land Rover Disco II and it works great. I have just bought an 04 Land Rover Range Rover that has the factory installed 7 pin trailer connection, but as I understand it, nothing set-up for an electronic brake. What do i need to use the 90185 from my Disco in the RR i.e. wiring harness, etc. I believe the whole idea about the removable feature of the 90185 is to use it in different vehciles same trailer

After your 2004 Land Rover Range Rover is set up for a brake controller, it will be very easy to move the brake controller between the 2 vehicles. You will need a few parts to wire the 2004 Land Rover for a brake controller.
You will need a second wiring harness, # 7894, which will plug into the back of the brake controller. The other end has blunt cut wires that you will need to hardwire into the vehicle. You will need to attach additional wire to the black and white wires on the harness, route them through the firewall, and over to the vehicle battery. You can use wire # 12-2-500. The white wire will attach to the negative battery terminal. The black wire will go first to a circuit breaker, # PK54530, and then from there to the positive battery terminal.
The red wire on the harness will go to the cold side of the brake switch. Test the brake switch wires (located above the brake pedal) with a circuit tester like # 3808 if needed. You need the wire that shows a signal only when the brake pedal is pressed. If you find a wire that also shows a signal when the turn signals or running lights are on, it is not the correct wire. Attach this wire to the red wire using a quick splice connector, # 564.
You will need to then attach a length of wire (about 20 feet) # 10-1-1, to the blue wire on the harness. Right it through the firewall, under the vehicle, avoiding areas that may pinch or burn the wire, and all the way back to the back of the 7-Way where the wires attach. Locate the wire in the 7 oclock position (if present). Remove the old wire and replace it with the wire you ran from the brake controller harness.
Now that the vehicle is wired for the brake controller, you will need a second mounting pocket, # 7686. Make sure to mount it in the correct position according to the installation instructions for the brake controller, linked for reference. Once installed all you will have to do is take the controller from the old vehicle, mount it in the other vehicle, and plug it in.
