Question:
After installing my brake controller in my 2008 Tundra I noticed a blue light stays on in the display after the power is turned off. Is this normal? Just wanted to make sure it would not run my battery down. I purchased the adapter plug assembly for the tundra so, it was a simple plug in installation. Great product!

The Tekonsha Prodigy Brake Controller, part # 90885, has blue LED lights that will stay on after the vehicle is turned off, but should turn off after 15 minutes of inactivity. It will enter its power-saving mode which engages after the brake controller does not sense motion or activity for 15 minutes.
However, the power it is using should only be a few milliamps. If your brake controller is drawing more power than this or is not entering power saving mode, it could be a couple of different things.
You can test the blue wire for voltage. When it should be in power saving mode, it should not send hardly any power if at all along the blue wire.
If your brake controller is plugged into the vehicle with a vehicle specific wiring harness, check to make sure the connections are clean and secured.
You can then go back to the trailer connectors and check them for dirt and corrosion. A short to the brake circuit would make the controller think it needs to send power back. This can be caused by corrosion or a bad ground.
Make sure that the grounds for the trailer side and vehicle side connectors are attached to clean metal surfaces. On the trailer side, you can also check the brake magnets (if the problem is occurring with the trailer connected. If it is happening when the trailer is not connected, unhook the trailer and see if it goes into power saving mode. If it does, then there is a short somewhere that is drawing power).
I am including a link to the installation instructions on the Prodigy P2 brake controller.
