Question:
What is the correct hanger spacing for tandem axle kit number APT6SE-36?

Expert Reply:
The trailer suspension hanger kit, # APT6SE-36, assumes a 36 inch center to center distance between the two axles. After crunching some numbers, I have found that the distance from the front hanger to the center of the equalizer should be 30-3/8 inches. And from the equalizer to the rear hanger it should be 31-3/8 inches.
When you mock up the kit on your trailer, make sure that the slipper springs are rested properly on the equalizer and rear hanger. In other words, the geometry of every trailer is a little different so you may need to move something a little and it would not exactly match the figure presented.
I have included a picture that shows the measurements.
The compatible slipper springs with this kit are # 803T3, # 1203T3, and # 1403T3. I have also linked an FAQ article on slipper spring suspension for you.
