Im in the need for a hard-shelled rooftop carrier for my 2004 Volvo XC90. Will the SportRack A90275 Aero Rooftop Cargo Carrier work for me?

The SportRack Aero XL Roof Cargo Box, part # A90275, that you have referenced, will fit on Thule square cross bars, Yakima round cross bars, and most factory cross bars.
If you have factory cross bars on your 2004 Volvo XC90 that run from side to side, you will need to check that the diameter of the cross bars are less than 4 inches in diameter, and that the spread between the cross bars can be 24 to 34 inches, for the cargo box to fit.
If you just have side rails on your roof that run from front to back, you will need to install the Thule Crossroad Foot Pack, part # TH450, with the Thule Square Load Bars, part # THLB50, to get cross bars on the roof of your vehicle. I am including installation instructions and an installation video for the Thule foot pack.
With the Thule parts installed on your roof you will then be able to attach the SportRack cargo box to your roof.
