The arms on this bike carrier are 13 inch on center. To fit a bike over the
bars you need a clearance of 14-1/2 inches in the bike frame. We do have
2 carriers that have smaller arms, the Softride # SR25863 has 8.8
inch outside to outside measurement and will carry up to 4, 40 pound
bikes, and the Kuat # A102-BLACK-114 for 1 1/4 inch receiver and #B202-2
for 2 inch receiver has an outside to outside measurement of 11
inches and a weight capacity of 100 pounds. You may also want to look
at the bike racks with the frame mount cradles which require much less
frame width to mount the bikes such as # A30703FB, #S64950 and
#S64152. Kids bikes often have differing frame configurations so you
may need a # 64005 adapter to mount these types of bikes to the carrier
