Thule K Summit Tire Chains Compatibility with a 2012 Subaru Impreza Sport

Dear Etrailer: Have you had a chance to test the Thule K Summit tire chains on a 2012 Subaru Impreza Sport? Tire size: 205/50-17 I am concerned about the large metal arm hitting the wheel well fender edge when turning. The manual states that standard chains are not to be used, but spring chainsinch are ok if needed. Thank you,

Unfortunately we have not had the chance to test the Thule K Summit Tire Chains, TH02230K23, on a 2012 Subaru Impreza Sport. I spoke with my contact at Thule and the K Summit tire chains require a 0 millimeter clearance. As long as the chains are installed properly they should work. I went out to the warehouse and measured the thickness of the plastic traction plate which is 9.9 millimeters. I have attached a photo showing the measurement and that should give you some idea of how far the traction plate comes off of the tire.

We also offer the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains, # PW1038, that are designed for vehicles that require Class S tire chains because of limited tire clearance. You can consult your owners manual to verify the chain class that your vehicle requires. You will also want to get the Glacier Rubber Adjusters for Class S snow chains, # PW100.

Keep in mind, any time tire chains are installed on a vehicle there is a risk of damage.
