Push-in Lock Button Does Not Go In When Swagman Pick-Up Truck-Bed-Mounted Bike Rack Installed

Question:

Push in lock button will not push in after rail is in place. However it will lock if rail is somewhat lose, you can almost pull the rail off not a good thing. Is there anything that can be done to lock while in a solid position? Any help would be most appreciated, Thank you.

If the Swagman Pick-up rack, # S64702, is new, it may need to be worked in and out a few times to break it in. What you are describing sounds like it is binding because it is not aligned properly. This can happen if the rack is too tight to cause a slight bow (which may or may not be visible) and that can cause the push-in lock not to operate correctly.

To get the correct length to fit your truck bed, you can measure the width between the rails and then set the length of the rack accordingly. If it is too loose try the next setting up until you reach the best spot and try the lock again.

You can also try a little spray lubricant to make sure the parts can move easily in the locking mechanism.
