Hitch and Cargo Carrier Recommendation for Transporting a Wheel Chair with a 2003 Dodge Caravan

Will this work on our Caravan 2003 SE? I am thinking we can put Moms wheelchair on it and her on the back seat to have more interior room. Need answer asap as we depart in a few days for trip to funeral in FL

I checked with Yakima and yes, the Yakima SuperJoe Pro 2 Bike Rack # Y02629 is a confirmed fit for your 2003 Dodge Caravan. However, this bike rack was not designed for carrying wheelchairs and because of that I can not safely recommend you attempt to do so.

I believe the safest option for you would be to install a hitch on your vehicle and then put a cargo carrier on the hitch and then secure the wheel chair to the cargo carrier.

For a hitch, I would recommend you get a Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch # 87717. I attached installation instructions and an installation video for you to check out also.

Now for a cargo carrier, I think that one with a ramp would make the loading and unloading of the wheelchair easier. Check out the Brophy Cargo Carrier, # MSCR. Or, if you wanted something more economical, you could use the Pro Series Cargo Carrier, # PS1040300. This carrier does not have a ramp but it would work very well also.
