Hopkins Backup Sensor System Sounds Constant Alert when Installed on a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder

Expert Reply:

If the license plate area on the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder is recessed, the sensors could be picking up the overhang above the license plate area, or the rear bumper. You would need to put something behind the unit so that it protrudes further from the rear of the vehicle so the sensors will not detect those items on the vehicle.

If there is a short circuit that is applying constant power to the alert, it would just beep continuously while in reverse because there would be power applied to it all the time in this scenario. Make sure that you have the unit properly grounded to a bare metal surface and everything is connected tight.
