The brake controller and hitch you have selected will work great for your 2001 Dodge Ram Pickup as long as you do not have the deep drop rear bumper. In that case you would need hitch # 41504. Before you order, look under the dash behind the hood latch release inside the vehicle. If there is a connector (see instructions link below), it will allow you to use the custom harness to wire the controller, part # 52810-V30506. If your vehicle does not have the connector, just order the brake controller #52810 and it will have to be hard wired to the vehicle. Using part number ETBC7 will allow you to tow a small trailer with a 4-pole connector or a larger trailer that has a 7-way connector and electric brakes. Wiring harness 118329 is a custom fit T-1 connector that works with regular Dodge Ram pickups and those with the deep drop bumper. I have provided links below to these items and they have installation videos and instructions to guide you through the wiring and installation. Keep in mind you will need a draw bar and ball to complete this set up if you don't already have those.
