Im being told that I need to install a relay under the dash of my 2008 Nissan Titan for my trailer brakes to work. I had the dealer install the hitch and 7 pin jack they installed the three relays in the panel under the hood. So the lights do work, but Im installing the brake controller myself.

In order to install a brake controller on your 2008 Nissan Titan, you will only need the brake controller and a wiring harness since all of the other components are already in place. No additional relays should be needed. For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. It is one of our most popular controllers because it is easy to set up and easy to use.
The vehicle specific wiring harness for a 2008 Nissan Titan is # 3050-P. The adapter plugs in a 6-pin connector on the trucks built in brake controller wiring harness. This harness can be found beneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal.
I have included a link to the brake controller instructions and a link to our FAQ article on brake controllers.
