What is the Length of the Flap on the E-Z Mount Tow Light Kit from Inside of Hook to Corner Fold

Question:

Can you please measure the distance between the inside edge of the lip on the rear of the flap and the corner fold of the flap? I want to know if that dimension is long enough to fit over the bumper of my 2001 VW Cabrio.. If that is too short the light will not fold down and be visible from the rear [it willl point towards the sky].

I went to the warehouse and pulled the E-Z Mount Tow Light Kit, # EZT20B, to measure for you, see video link. The measurement from the hook that sits inside the trunk lip to the 90 degree angled corner on the flap is 3-3/4 inches.

The E-Z Mount kit can be used in many positions, including the position you referenced. I added a photo showing a couple of alternate applications that you may find helpful.

If this light kit will not work on your Cabrio, I checked with Blue Ox and they recommend the Bulb and Socket Tail Light Wiring Kit, # BX8869. This kit will keep the tow vehicle and toad wiring separate, and provide stop turn and tail lights for towing your VW. Drilling a hole in the vehicle tail light housing is required for installation of the extra bulb and socket.

Along with the bulb and socket wiring kit you will need connectors and wiring to span the tow bar. Blue Ox offers the 4-Wire, Coiled Electrical Cord and Sockets, # BX8861, and the 6-Wire, Coiled Electrical Cord and Sockets, # BX8862, one of which should work with your towed vehicle wiring.
