The tire construction on the Kenda ST235/85R16 Load Range E Trailer Tire, part # AM10295, tread is 5 plies (two polyester/two steel/ one nylon). The sidewall is two ply polyester.
Steel in the sidewall is not used in many trailer tire sizes. It is mostly used in the sidewall of tires for heavy duty commercial truck applications that are more susceptible to damage to the sidewall, because of the conditions they will be used in.
The 7.50-16 tire size will be labeled as a 7.50-16 LT designation for trailer or RV use. The 7.50-16 tire size is not offered as a ST 7.50-16 designation.
The Kenda 7.50-16LT Load Range E Tire, part # AM10423, that I have in stock showed a tire construction of just nylon in the tire. It did not list how many plies of nylon are used in the tire.
