Trunk Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2005 Volvo S60

The Thule Raceway platform rack, # TH9003, is listed as a fit for a 2005 Volvo S60. This rack is heavy, about 45 pounds, and when loaded to its 70 pound capacity, that would be about 115 pounds on the bumper of a vehicle. While it will technically fit, it is more suited for a vehicle that has a metal mounting surface for the bottom legs because this much weight can dent thinner composite materials.

For a 2 bike rack I recommend going with the Raceway, # TH9001. This rack still holds 2 bikes, but it is much lighter, under 12 pounds. We have not had any complaints about this rack denting vehicles. This rack is also very easy to install and remove. It as retractable cables that make putting it on and taking it off the vehicle faster and easier than any other trunk mount rack I have seen.

If you will be carrying womens, childrens, or alternative frame bikes, I recommend the bike adapter bar, # TH982XT, in order to carry the bikes more level.
