From what I was able to find, on a 2011 GMC Sierra 1500, the procedure for changing a headlight bulb is explained in the owners manual. I also found one individual that outlined the following process:

First, remove two forward wheel house bolts

Then, open hood and remove two upper fascia bolts across top of grille

Next, remove the lower rear fascia bolt from the support bracket and loosen the two fender to fascia bolts from behind wheel well liner

You will then pull the outboard end of the front fascia straight out until it disengages the fender bracket, pull forward and downward enough to remove the headlight

Next, remove two upper headlamp bolts and then grasp headlamp on the upper inboard side and lower outboard side and pull straight to release pins from fender panel

Pull on the outboard side rotating to release headlamp from radiator support bracket

Last, disconnect electrical connections

The first place I would check though is the owners manual to verify the information.
