Brake Controller Wiring for a 2007 Chevy Suburban

The installation for a brake controller on the 2007 Suburban is the same as the installation on the New Body Style Silverado's. On your Suburban and new Chevy trucks, there is no longer a plug under the dash for a brake controller. Instead, there are just the four loose wires tied up under the steering wheel, off to the left. As long as your Suburban has the factory installed 7-way at the back, all you will need to do to install a brake controller is splice into the four loose wires under your dash.
Also, you said you will be doing a lot of traveling. If that is the case, you are probably going to want a proportional brake controller. They use newer technology and are easier on your trailer brakes. I would recommend either the Tekonsha Prodigy or the Valley Odyssey.

With the Valley Odyssey, you will need to purchase the Quick Disconnect Adapter; part number V30520.
With the WD System Shanks, the vertical adjustment is different depending on whether you have the Round Bar WD or the Trunnion Bar WD systems. The following link will take you to the specs on 3215.
