Finding the Stop Light Switch Wire for Installing a Brake Controller on a 1995 Chevy C/K Pickup

Question:

I am installing a Captivator 3 brake control Curt Mfg on my 1995 chevrolet c/k pickup the instructions say to connect the red stoplight wire to the non-powered side of the stoplight switch, i can not seem to find the stop light switch, can you help me with this specific vehicle to find where I should attach the red wire of the brake controller .

Expert Reply:

You will need to use a circuit tester, like part # 3808, to test the wires under your dash. That is where your stoplight switch is located. We have a video of a 1993 Chevy Suburban being fitted with a brake controller. Start at the 7:20 time mark on the video and you can see where our installer locates the wire. You should find the wire in a similar location, but use a circuit tester to verify.
