Question:
I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra v-8 pickup. I want to pull a 2 horse trailer. What are the best brake controllers to have installed in my truck?

Your install procedure will depend on how your Tundra is equipped.
If you have the factory tow package with the 7-way trailer connector at the rear bumper, you can simply use a controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885 and the brake controller wiring adapter, part # 3040-P. The adapter plug in to the rear of the controller, and the other end would plug into the connector under the dash. The connector is usually located near the emergency brake pedal.
If you do not have the factory tow package with the 7-way at the rear bumper, you will need to hardwire the controller using the Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7. If you do not already have a 4-pole trailer connector, you will also need to install part # 119147KIT that will provide one. The install kit includes an adapter that will plug into the 4-pole, plus all needed wire, hardware and circuit breakers.
