How to Strap a Kayak with a Yakima BowDown Down when Used on a Yakima Rack and Roll trailer

Question:

On the Yakima trailer, what about tiedowns at the ends of long boats 16-17 foot kayaks? There isnt any place to tie them.

Expert Reply:

I spoke to my contact at Yakima and she informed me that since your kayaks will be behind your vehicle and not on top it is not as important to have the kayaks strapped down when used on the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08106. She did recommend that at least one strap get used around the kayak to the frame of the trailer.
