Question:
Does this side molding fit stick with adhesive as if it were tape or film over the existing discolored now by weather painted side molding? If so, is it a hard shell that snuggly overlays the existing molding? Or is is a tape-like application that essentially puts a chrome film on the existing molding? THANKS.

This Putco Chrome Body Side Molding # P403531 that you referenced will go over the current molding that is on your GMC Yukon XL. This product is made from ABS plastic which is a very rigid plastic that will snugly fit over the existing molding.
