Center Bolt Attachment for the Reese Universal 5th Wheel Install Kit on a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500

Question:

Hello The installation instructions for the 30035 kit mentions Rail center bolt mounting I see nothing in the instruction about the addition of a cross brace to mount the center bolts to. Dose the center bolt pass through only the sheet metal of the bed. The kit contains only the side L brackets. 2001 Dodge 2500 short bed. Thanks

The center bolts for the rails in the Reese Universal 5th Wheel Installation Kit, # RP30035, do go through the sheet metal of the bed but on the other side, beneath the truck, it will also pass through a spacer block that is included with the kit, a washer, lock washer, and finally the nut. Make sure there is nothing below the bed in the location of the center bolts before drilling. I have included a link the installation instructions for you.
