Can a Straight Pipe Replace a OEM Pre-Filter on a 2011 Ford F-150 When Installing MagnaFlow Exhaust

Question:

I installed the new Magnaflow in my 2011 Ford F-150 3.5L Turbo, I see the extension pipe from the Catylic converter is still the oem pipe and some kind of filter muffler? Can I remove this and put a straight pipe? Does Magnaflow have this stainless pipe extension? Thanks

Expert Reply:

You are correct, the extension pipe from the catalytic converter, with pre-filter, stays on the vehicle with the MagnaFlow Off-Road Pro Series Turndown Cat-Back Exhaust System, # MF17124.

If you would like to remove the pre-filter it can be done, but MagnaFlow does not offer a straight pipe extension for this application, you would have to have a custom pipe made to eliminate the OEM pipe. This will cause the system to be louder also.
