Wiring a Brake Controller on a 2007 Chevy 1500

Question:

I need to know how to wire a brake controller on a 2007 chevy 1500 new body style

asked by: Larry

Expert Reply:

The brake controller itself will splice into the bundle of taped or banded wires under the dash, usually located above where your left knee would be as you are sitting at the wheel. The wires do now connect color for color. The red wiring harness wire would connect to the black wire on the brake controller, the dark blue harness wire connects to the blue wire on the controller, the light blue harness wire attaches to the red wire on the controller, and the white wire on the harness connects to the white wire on the controller.

If your truck already has the 7 way connector on the bumper, then you will need nothing else. If you do not have a connector, we offer the Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Way Trailer Connector, part # 30955 that would plug into the socket located above the spare tire.
