Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2011 GMC Sierra 3500 Cab and Chassis

Question:

I have a 2011, 1 ton 3500 GMC Cab and Chassis 4 wheel drive. this truck has the second gas tank in the rear and the frame is wider than a regular 3500 with a bed. I have had problems getting the correct hitch. Have recieved two not from etrailer that were too narrow and did not line up with the frame rails. Is this hitch specifically for a Cab and Chassis wider than the regular hitch please let me know as I would like to get the correct hitch for this truck.

I checked with Draw-Tite and they do list Trailer Hitch # 41940, as a fit for the Cab and Chassis model 2011 GMC Sierra 3500. The truck will need to have a 34 inch wide frame for this hitch, or any of the hitches listed for your vehicle, to fit (measured from outside to outside). I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. I have also included a link to all of the hitches listed as a fit for your truck. Please note that # 41936 will not fit models with the second gas tank.

For a ball mount, I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit, # EBMK2416, which comes with a ball mount, interchangeable ball set, a hitch pin with clip and a carrying bag. You truck probably already has a 7-Way trailer connector but in the event you need to add one use # PK11916.
