Tekonsha Primus IQ Brake Controller # TK90160 Not Working on 2009 Honda Pilot With # 3070-P Harness

Question:

I bought brake controller TK90160, and 3070-P. when i connect this controller by using 3070-p, the controller doesnt work at all. I follow this instruction: 1 plug is ed into the back of the Tekonsha Prodigy / Primus Brake Control Unit. 1 plug is ed into the factory installed port under the dash which is a 4-pin connector, after that, controller doesnt work. I tried to restart my car. no working. FYI, that 4-pin male connector wirings color dont match 3070-p female connectors. Black wire should go to Black one, am I right? please help.

The Tekonsha Wiring Harness, part # 3070-P, with the Tekonsha Primus IQ Brake Controller, part # TK90160, is for use on a 2009 Honda Pilot with the OEM tow package and the factory 7-Way trailer connector on the rear of your vehicle. You will want to make sure that your vehicle has the factory OEM tow package.

The wire colors on your Honda factory brake controller connector could be different than the standard black, red, blue and white colors on the # 3070-P connector. Each vehicle manufacturer can have different colors on their factory brake controller wiring harnesses.

I would recommend to test the wires on your factory brake controller wiring harness for the correct function by using a circuit tester like the Quickee Tester, part # 3808. If you plug in your Primus IQ brake controller with the # 3070-P connector to your vehicles factory brake controller wiring harness and test the wires on the back of the brake controller this will help you determine where the problem might be. I am including a link to a video that will show you how to test the wires on a brake controller.

If all of the wires do not show any function I would recommend to check the fuse panel in the fuse compartment to make sure that Honda installed the fuses and relays that are needed for the OEM towing package. The fuse panel is located in the rear cargo area, on the drivers side, next to the rear seats in the folded position. I am including a link to a video that will show where the fuse panel will be located on your vehicle and which fuses are needed.

If you are still having problems after that testing and you have all the fuses installed please let me know so I can help you continue to diagnose the problem.
