Question:
My brother is traveling and called me saying his controller is giving an E2 code. Can you tell me what that indicates so i can call him with an answer.. Any help will be appreciated.

I contacted our representative at Hopkins about the E2 code that is showing on the Reliance Brake Controller. The representative informed me that this code is an indication of a short on the Blue brake controller wire.
What he will need to do is inspect the Blue wire from the brake controller back for any cut, frayed or exposed wiring. A way to check whether the short is on the tow vehicle or the trailer is to stop and disconnect the trailer wiring. If the E2 code still shows on the brake controller, the short is most likely on the vehicle wiring. If the E2 code goes away, the short is most likely on the trailer.
