The Yakima RailGrab Towers # Y00138 that you referenced would be the correct system for attaching a roof rack on your 2001 Chevy Suburban if it does not have cross bars that run from one side of the roof to the other.

If you got a Yakima Round Bar # Y00408 along with the # Y00138 you would have a complete roof rack system for your vehicle if it has raised side rails that run from front to back.

If your vehicle has cross bars already you would not necessarily need towers.
