CURT Trailer Hitch Pin Capacity and Pintle Hitch Ball Recommendation

Question:

Also, my combo ball/pintle hitch is stamped 8 tonsbut the ball is only 2 on a 1.125 shank,threaded. Can I get a 5/16 ball with same shaft to fit my hitch? Tqwing 14,000 lbs.,coupler is 2 5/16.

The CURT Hitch Pin, # C21500, does not have an official capacity because it far exceeds the ability of most anything it can be placed in.

A believe I have found the perfect ball for you. Take a look at Pintle Hitch Ball, # 63019. It has a 2-5/16 inch diameter with a 1-1/4 inch threaded shank. It has a capacity of 14,000 pounds. This is the highest capacity ball with a 1-1/4 inch shank. It may be too close for comfort if you are towing exactly 14,000 pounds. If at all possible, reduce the trailer weight as much as possible.
