Stand Up Paddleboard Carrier and Roof Rack Recommendations for a Chevy Equinox

I have a Chevy Equinox and would like to be able to carry a SUP Stand Up Paddleboard. Do you have any recommendations for a roof rack system that will work on my Equinox and a paddleboard carriers?

First, in order to carry a stand up paddle board on your Chevy Equinox, you will need to install a roof rack that includes crossbars that run side to side. In order to find the correct roof rack system for your Equinox, I will need to know the year it is and what kind of roof it has (plain with no rails or tracks, side rails that run front to back, or tracks that run front to back).

Once you determine which roof rack will fit your specific year and model Equinox, you can add a watersport carrier. I recommend the Yakima WaveHog Roof Mounted Surfboard Carrier System, # Y04051. This system includes a pad for each crossbar to protect the boards finish. It includes straps that hold the boards to the crossbars as well as bow and stern straps that attach to the front and rear of the vehicle.

Another option is the Thule SUP Taxi, # TH810. The cradles keep the boards off the crossbars to protect them and prevent back and forth movement. The straps then hold the boards in place. This system can handle 2 boards up to 34 inches wide.
