Does the Capacity of Suspension Air Springs Exceed the Payload of a 2009 Chevy Silverado 2500HD

Question:

Hi folks, I have an 09 Silverado 2500 HD Duramax. I see from the manual that I can have roughly 2500 lbs of payload. I must be misreading the specs on the bags. Im interpretting it to say the bags are effective from 3200 lbs - 5000 lbs. If I can only carry 2500 lbs, the bags would be of no use to me. correct, or am I totally off base : Thanks

I do not want to question the owners manual of your 2009 Chevy Silverado, but 2,500 pounds payload capacity sounds awful low. Especially for a 2500HD Duramax diesel. I did some research and found that it should have a payload ranging from 3,481 pounds up to as much as 3,924 pounds. I would call a dealership and have them run the VIN to determine what the payload is.

If it ends up being closer to what I found, then the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs, # F2250, would be beneficial. These systems work great if you frequently carry different size and types of loads. Combine it with the Firestone Level Command II, # F2219, and it will be easy to level the load side to side.
