Will Rear Hatch Of 2010 Chevrolet Traverse Open w/ Oldenkamp Hitch Mounted Scooter Carrier # RHWC2FL
Question:
I have a 2010 Chevy Traverse that is factory rigged for towing, so I have no doubt that I can accommodate the weight, but I have concerns about still being able to open the rear hatch with the carrier attached. Do you know if it is possible to open the hatch with this carrier on this vehicle?

The Oldenkamp Trailer Hitch Mounted Scooter Carrier, part # RHWC2FL, has 2 arms that stick up when lowering or raising the lift. These arms will sit in the way of the carrier.
What you can do is measure from the edge of the receiver opening, out 6 inches. Then, you can try to open the rear hatch, if the hatch extends out less than 6 inches from the receiver it will clear the arms of the carrier.
There is a chance that the carrier will clear, but more than likely the two support arms will prevent the rear hatch on your 2010 Traverse from opening.
Our representative at Oldenkamp informed me that the other option would be to use a small trailer. Another option would be to use a carrier that does not have arms sticking upward, like the Pro Series Steel Solo Cargo Carrier, part # PS10401-10402.
When using the Oldenkamp Carrier # RHWC2FL, you will want to make sure not to exceed the tongue weight capacity of your hitch or vehicle as stated in the vehicle owners manual. The weight of the carrier, plus the wheel chair or scooter is tongue weight.
