The Stromberg Carlson fifth wheel tailgates that I have for your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD are the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series Louvered Tailgate with Lock, part # VGM-07-4000, which uses high-strength plastic construction; and the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series Tailgate with Open Design, part # VGM-07-100, which uses steel tube construction.
Another fifth wheel tailgate I have for your vehicle is the Husky Liners Premium Louvered Tailgate with Locking Handle, part # HL15240. This tailgate employs aluminum construction.
Although each of these products uses a different material, all are approximately the same weight (35-36 pounds).
For each of these tailgates I have included an installation video.
