Can a 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Be Installed if a 2006 Chevy Silverado Already has a Gooseneck Hitch

Question:

do i have to remove a folding ball hitch to install the above part # rp50064.58 or can i leave it in place. thanks

Expert Reply:

Chances are that you will have to remove your folding gooseneck trailer hitch in order to install the Reese Quick Install Kit, # RP50064-58, because more than likely, both kits use the same mounting locations and would interfere with one another. You can take a look at the installation instructions and video I have linked for more details on where and how the kit installs on the truck.

Depending on what type of gooseneck hitch you have, you may be able to use the Hi-Rise Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter, # 9480. It will fit in certain models of Reese, Draw-Tite, Bulldog or B and W gooseneck hitches. I have included a link to the installation details for you.
