Question:
I am purchasing a Montana 5th wheel in a few weeks and need to buy a hitch. I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 quad cab short bed. The trailer weight is approx 12000 lbs dry and hitch weight is approx 2000 lbs. Looking for a slider hitch plus rails, what do you recommend.

For your 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab Short Bed towing a Montana 5th Wheel, the Reese 16K Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider, part # RP30051, you have referenced is a good choice. It has a 16,000-lb maximum trailer weight capacity and a 4,000-lb vertical load weight capacity and has an adjustable height of 15 inches to 18 inches. It is a square tube slider that will travel 10 inches from front to back.
To install the hitch on your Dodge Ram you will need the Custom Installation Kit with Rails and Brackets, part # RP50140-58. This is a custom installation kit so it will cut installation time in half compared with the universal kits. t.
I am including links to the installation instructions on both hitches and installation kits.
