Question:
Ive read reviews on VW forums that say installing a wiring kit like this is problematic due to the computer system monitoring voltage in the system which throws up some check engine or bulb out light. Will there be any effect like this after installation?

If installed properly this Tow Ready Wiring Harness # 119176KIT will not damage the computer system of your 2006 Volkswagen Touareg. This system protects the tail light circuits of your vehicle by only using the circuits as signal wires. The amperage draw on the tail light circuits is very minimal. There is a wire that runs to your vehicle battery from this unit that actually will power the tail lights so there will not be excessive draw on your tail light circuitry.
