How to Install a Brake Controller on Chevrolet / GMC 1999-2006 Pickups

Question:

I have a 2005 chevy suburban with a factory installed tow package and pull a 2001 19 timberland trailer. I do not recall having any additional wiring provided by chevy. Can I purchase a brake controller from you and install myself? will it contain all necessary components/wires to install? OR do these have to installed by certified professionals?

Since you have the factory tow package, the installation will be simple. You will need a brake controller and a wiring adapter to plug the controller into the vehicle, provided that your factory tow package includes a 7-Way. I would suggest the Tekonsha Prodigy, part # 90185-3015P. This comes with the brake controller and the wiring harness to plug into the port.
