Question:
We have a Toyota Sienna rated to tow 3500lbs and a class 3 hitch towing a 2800 lb dry wt travel trailer with 225 lb tongue wt. and hydraulic brakes. Will this work for us? Is there a better choice? Or will a weight distribution hitch actually help in this situation or not?

Weight distribution is a good idea any time the gross trailer weight is 50 percent or more of the vehicle weight. So for your Toyota Sienna and 2,800 pound travel trailer, you would benefit from weight distribution.
There are certain weight distribution systems that are compatible with surge brakes. The Reese 350 Mini-Lite Weight Distribution System, # RP66024, is one of these systems and has a tongue weight capacity and gross trailer weight capacity (350/3,500 pounds) that will handle your trailer.
