Identifying Wires for Brake Controller Wiring on a 2007 Chevy Silverado

Question:

I have a 2007 Silverado with the new body style. Im trying to wire my brake controlLer but the wire colors do not match the under the dash harness. Attached tag list on truck harness labeled: DK BLUE-AUX, RED\BLACK-BATT, LT BLUE/WHITE-CHMSI, ORNG-CHMSL, WHITE-GND. Im assuming AUX is brake out, Batt is 12V power, GND is ground. What are the other 2? Im thinking one must be brake ground.

Expert Reply:

You have 3 of the 5 correctly identified. Use a circuit tester, like part # 40376 to verify, but the orange wire is for the stop light switch. This wire should show current only when the brake is applied. The last wire is for an illumination circuit, and is not used. Just cap it off.
