Upgrading a 2007 Ford F-150 with a 6-Way Trailer Connector

Question:

I recently purchased an older model 18ft.travel trailer and am planning to pull it with my 2007 F150 4X4. My truck did not come with the tow package because it is a short wheel base single cab pickup but it does however come with the factory plug for the brake controller under the dash. Since the wires for trailer brakes are already run to the back of the truck, and the truck came from the factory with a 4 way flat trailer plug, can I use the OEM 6 way adapter #20028 and simply plug it in to make the swap from 4 way to 6 way plug? Will the part #20028 fit on my 2007 F150? Please let me know if it will work or not. My travel trailer came with a 6 way plug so I have no use for the 4 way flat plug.

Unfortunately, the part # 20028 will not work with your vehicle. It is designed to work with a 1997-2002 Ford F150 only. The 4 Pole to 6 Pole Adapter, part # 37175 would be the ideal choice for your situation. You would be able to retain use of the 4 pole connector, and the mounting bracket is included as well.
