Distance to clear back of vehicle...

Question:

You stated in one of your answers that the distance / clearance is just 6.5 if used with a 1 1/4 hitch. Isnt it true, that this item is designed for a 2 hitch and has an adapter for 1 1/4 as shown in the pictures. I looks to me, that the use of the adapter creates a larger distance than 6.5!!!!! The Curt carier has the anti rattle bolt. Does this item has a similar setup? I am looking to install a hitch and a carrier to my 2010 KIA SOUL.

I am not sure which question specifically you are referring to but out of the two that are on the product page for Pro Series Cargo Carrier, # PS1040300, I pulled the following statement. When the 1-1/4 inch adapter is attached, it measures 11-3/16 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest part of the carrier. Without the adapter it is 6 inches. This carrier uses a regular trailer hitch pin and not a threaded bolt.

All of the trailer hitches for a 2010 Kia Soul are class I hitches and you will need a carrier that is compatible with a class I hitch. Unfortunately, the Pro Series Carrier that you have referenced is not compatible with class I trailer hitches.

Instead, I recommend the Draw-Tite Carrier, # 6500. This carrier measures between 5-1/4 to 11-1/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole, depending on where the shank is attached to the carrier. It does not have a threaded anti-rattle hitch pin, so I recommend using something simple, like # F-315.

For a trailer hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite hitch, # 24839. I have included a link to the installation instructions for the carrier and the trailer hitch for you to view.
