Tow Bar and Accessories Needed to Flat Tow a 2005 Jetta Wagon, Old Body Style, and 2005 Ford F-350

What tow bar and acessories do I need to flat tow my 2005 Jetta wagon. Can I buy a heavier one that would do to tow my 2005 Ford F350 also? Do you recommend anyone in Seattle Wa to install it on my Jetta?

You will be able to tow your 2005 Jetta Wagon and your 2005 Ford F-350 with the same tow bar. We have two tow bars available which are rated for towing the F-350 so you will need to select one of those.

The RoadMaster Blackhawk 2 All Terrain Tow Bar, item # RM-422, or the Blue Ox Aventa LX Tow Bar, item # BX7445, are the correct tow bars for towing the F-350 and are both rated at 10000lbs capacity.

You would then need a base plate kit for each vehicle. For the Jetta wagon, you will need the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit, item # 521228-1. For the F-350, you will need the Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit, item # 4403-1.

To use the Aventa LX Tow Bar, you will need the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, item # BX3827, for the 2005 Jetta Wagon, Old Body Style, and for the 2005 F-350 you will need the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, item # BX2177.

Once you have the towbar and base plate kits selected, you will need lighting for the towed vehicles. I recommend 2 of the the Blue Ox Bulb and Socket Tail Light Wiring Kits, item # BX8869, along with the Blue Ox 4-Wire, Coiled Electrical Cord, item # BX8861, to complete your wiring on both of the vehicles. If you need an additional 4-Way round connector for the motor home, the 4-Pole Round Pin Trailer Wiring Socket, item # PK11404, would work for you.

The Aventa LX tow bar comes with 10000lb capacity safety cables. If you select the Blackhawk 2 All Terrain Tow Bar, you will need to purchase safety cables. The Blue Ox Safety Cables, item # BX88208 would be a good choice.

Finally, you should consider a supplemental braking system, especially for towing the F-350 truck. The Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System, item # BRK2012, would make a good choice for switching between two towed vehicles.
