Question:
Can you adjust the sensing range? I get the final steady tone with only millimeters before touching the car behind me. How can I increase this distance?

The Back Up sensor is designed to start beeping when you are approximately 5-1/2 feet away from an obstacle. I have contacted Hopkins, who tells me that the sensitivity is not adjustable. They did mention that the angle of the sensors themselves can be adjusted. If they are aimed so that they are pointing straight back from the rear of the vehicle, objects that are closer to the ground might not be picked up, especially on taller vehicles.
I would recommend adjusting the sensors so that they are pointed slightly downward, and see if the sensitivity range improves. Each sensor has two screws on each side that can be loosened to that the sensors can be adjusted.
If this does not improve the performance of the sensors, please let me know, and we will explore some other options.
