I have a 03 chevy 2500HD timed controller. The continunity light will only come on when the brake is applied. Pulling a RV with a battery hookup. Brakes lock up sometimes and sometimes it does not. WHen hooked up to my flatbed it operates correctly.

My suspicion is that the problem exists on the Chevy somewhere, because the problem does not occur when towed with another vehicle. I would first check the brake controller. Using a circuit tester, like part # 40376, make sure you have 12 v going into the brake controller, and check for output when the manual override is activated. Also test at the trailer connector for current while the override is activated.
