Question:
Hello, I am looking at ordering an adjustable ball mount for my 2004 Chevy Tahoe Z71 which has the factory installed tow package with a 2.5 square hitch receiver. The suspension and tires/rims are all stock and I am trying to figure out which of the Diversi-Tech adjustable self-locking ball mounts would be compatible with this vehicle in both the step-up and step-down configurations. I would like to have maximum adjustability in both directions, but without the risk of dragging/scraping the hitch or the lower hitch ball on the ground if it is in the lowest setting. Im assuming the 10/11 model is designed for trucks with a suspension lift. Do you know which one would be a safe choice for my vehicle with these considerations in mind? Thanks!

I offer adjustable ball mounts for a 2-1/2 hitch, but I would recommend to check the size of the hitch on your 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 with the factory installed tow package. The 2-1/2 inch size hitch would be a Class V hitch that would be rated to tow at least 14,000 lbs. I do not offer a hitch with a 2-1/2 inch opening for a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71.
To check the size of your factory hitch you will just need to measure the inside of the opening of the hitch on your vehicle. The more common size of hitch for your vehicle would be the 2 inch Class III and Class IV hitches. I am including a link to a FAQ page on trailer hitch receiver sizes.
The adjustable ball mount to use for the widest range of rise and drop and not drag or scrap the ground would be a 7 inch rise and 6 inch drop.
I would recommend the Diversi-Tech Self-Locking Ball Mount, part # DTALBM6600. This ball mount has a 7 inch rise and a 6 inch drop and is designed for a 2 inch hitch. It is rated for up to 10,000 lbs gross towing weight and up to 1,500 lbs tongue weight capacity.
If you do have a 2-1/2 inch hitch on your vehicle you would just add the Diversi-Tech Adapter Kit, part # DTADP35 to the # DTALBM6600 ball mount mentioned above. This adapter will lock to the 2 inch shank on the ball mount and allow you to use it in a 2-1/2 inch size hitch receiver.
